Here's a good ole bluegrass Cornmeal show from the archive. Happy Monday and one last week before spring break. Huzzah! (at least for my school)

Recently I've been checking out a bunch of Sublime Frequencies compilations and the tightest one I've acquired so far is this collection of guitar driven music from Niger by a group called Group Inerane. Below is a link for the label's website followed by a link to the Guitars from Agadez disc. Check it homes.

Hot New Track: Julian Lynch - In New Jersey

Boy is this track spacey! Julian Lynch's new single comes at you with emotive art relayed through a trip hop beat, a lolling bassline, and a little sitar here and there. Go ahead and listen to this... Willam Dafoe video watching optional.

This blog isn't dead!

Thanks for reminding me about this Catherine! I don't have time to get my blogging really going now. But I wanted to rejoice in bringing this blog back alive. I will say that Duke Ellington's Far East Suite has been spinning for awhile tonight, so give that one a listen.

10 Interesting Albums 2009, check dem out!

Grizzly Bear ~ Veckatimest A multitude of changing atmospheres and styles fill this critically acclaimed gem from one of the decade’s most important bands. There is beauty to be found in this album for every listener.
Megafaun ~ Gather, Form, & Fly Frequent visitors to St. Louis, Megafaun are becoming the future face of freak-folk. With beautiful harmonies cascading rhythms, this album cannot do you wrong.
The Antlers ~ Hospice A very rewarding album for the closely attentive listener, Hospice is a themed album filled with complex, passionate lyrics. Superb pacing makes the album an enriching experience in itself.
Thee Oh Sees ~ Help Hooky bliss! This fuzzed out garage-rock outfit crafted an album sure to bring a smile to the listener’s face.
Yo La Tengo ~ Popular Songs A beautiful 16th album from the indie-rock giants Yo La Tengo. Be sure to listen to their very first boogie track, “Periodically Double or Triple.”
Black Moth Super Rainbow ~ Eating Us Electronic pop usually is not my cup of tea, but this album has analog moog sounds! A time warp to an imagined future of the past! Interested yet?
Nomo ~ Invisible Cities This is a near flawless album with the power of rock, the quirks of indie, the infectious rhythms of jazz, and the vitality of African high-life. See them live at the Billiken Club soon…
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone ~ Vs. Children A lo-fidelity pop album from a very unique musician, Vs. Children is an album of storytelling that makes good on a rainy autumn afternoon.
Crocodiles ~ Summer of Hate I enjoy not being able to totally classify this album. This is a very noisy and psychedelic album from an artist I got into recently.
The Avett Brothers ~ I and Love and You The Avett Brothers crafted a beautiful folk record with even more hooks thanks to polish provided by their new producer Rick Rubin. It was just released last week but is sure to be one of the best of the year.

Come get your chills!: Bon Iver - Wolves

Phenomenal Wolves from Glastonbury. Great crowd, and an even better Justin Vernon.
